STRAIT – a narrow channel joining two larger bodies of water
RIVER – a large natural stream of water
SEA – a large body of salt water partially enclosed by land
Estuary – a wide part of a river where it nears the sea
Ocean - a large body of water that is part of the hydrosphere
Bay – an indentation of a shoreline smaller than a gulf
Shoal – a stretch of shallow water
Ponds – small body of water surrounded by land
Streams – small, flowing body of water. It is smaller than rivers

Swamp – a wetland that is forested
