Deshi likes the girl, but does she like Deshi?

Summary

Deshi is a boy from Shanghai who moves to Boston. He writes an email in English to

his friend telling him that he misses his other school and at the front of his house lives a girl

who plays the violin. Deshi also tells her that she is very beautiful and believes that he is in

love.

After sending the email he starts to study, but he cannot concentrate, in his mind there

is only the girl. Deshi plays the guitar, but the girl's father bothers him because the noise

bothers his daughter. Deshi was unable to sleep that night and was late for school the next

morning. He ran out of his case and found her outside in his father's car. He looked at her and

realized that she had green eyes. He did not do well in school, failed a test and was caught for

being distracted. Deshi was returning to her house through the park and saw that she was

sitting on a bench with her dog, Deshi congratulated her, but she just ignored him. When he

got home he started practicing on his guitar, but he didn't have the heart to do it. Her mom

came into her room and had a letter that she had mistakenly left at home. That letter was for

the front building. Deshi's mom said to drop the letter while she finished making dinner.

Deshi went to leave the letter thinking how unhappy he was because he had no friends in

Boston.

When he got to the building he met the girl. She was about to go downstairs when she

dropped something. Deshi picked up what had fallen. The girl greeted him and asked, Who's

there? A little scared. Deshi was confused and explained who he was. The girl said her name

is Helen and apologized for what her father had complained about and said that she liked his

music. At that moment Deshi realized what he was holding. Helen was blind.
