As a parent, you will always think on what's the best for your children and you will never
want them to be hurt so you sometimes intervene with their decisions. However, I
consider the secret departure of Rizal as the right thing to do for him to observe keenly
the European nations in order to prepare himself in the mighty task of liberating his
oppressed people from Spanish tyranny. He might have disobeyed his parents but in the
end, it's not only them who will benefit on its outcome but it is for the greater good of the
nation.

2. The escapades of Dr. Jose Rizal in the different corners of the world are documented in
history books and through different memorabilias. If I am given a chance to visit one of
the places Rizal has stayed it would be Spain. I want to witness the country wherein he
became determined to champion reforms in his homeland, Philippines. I also want to see
Universidad Central de Madrid where he enjoyed playing recitals, plays, and book
launches and where he studied English as well. Thus, it is Spain where he spent quite a
good deal of his younger years.

3. The propaganda movement did not succeed in its pursuit of reforms. Even if many of the
reformists showed how deep they love their country is, they still failed to maintain a
united front since they had to exercise caution in order to safeguard their wealth and to
protect their own private interests. Aside from lack of funds to initiate their plans, their
personal differences and petty misunderstandings were also some of the hindrances for
the movement to reach what they are aiming for. Lastly, no other strong and dedicated
leader emerged from the group aside from Jose Rizal itself.

4. The propaganda movement was the vehicle used by Filipinos in their quest for
independence from Spain because they saw the need to create awareness on the
happenings around the country and the need to equip many persons with proper
knowledge. In today’s context where power, fame, and wealth reigns over the greater
good of the nation, the Filipinos are in great need of someone who will open their eyes on
this harsh reality of life. Elected government officials don’t even dare to look back to
whom they have promised before election or even visit the people in times of crisis
because they have already got what they are aiming for, their positions.
