Dear Sanford Community,

First and foremost, I hope this letter finds you safe and well. As the unprecedented COVID-19
pandemic continues to lay bare the inequities and injustices in our country, the most
marginalized among us are — once again — forced to face the most dangerous effects. I hope
that you are all taking care of yourselves and those around you in these scary times.

The pandemic has also made very obvious the necessity for action. As our administration
reveals itself to be ever more fascist, racist, and harmful to our country, it is not enough to only
oppose these harmful policies in principle. Instead, we must stand up as our country’s future
policy leaders and forge a new path forward. The time for visionary policymaking is now.

Policy for the People is an organization that believes a visionary future is possible. We have
been hard at work this summer organizing and supporting initiatives for justice at Sanford and
beyond. This year, we will create a safe space for students to dive into leftist policies, bring new
events and voices to Sanford, advocate for change on campus, and use our skills to push for
progressive policies outside of the classroom.

There are many avenues through which you can get involved with Policy for the People.
Whether you choose to simply follow our content and attend events or become a member and
research and organize with us, we look forward to connecting with you all soon.

Please take a minute to read our Preamble and Goals and fill out a quick survey expressing your
interest.

Stay well,

Tyler Strobl,
Policy for the People Executive Committee President
