7. I want to further my understanding of special education in order to better my
performance at work.

9. Originally from Ohio, went to school at Case Western, and then moved to Las Vegas.
Was a manager at the convention center and Cici’s, before starting work as a SPTA at
a local elementary school for the past five years.
10. Watching sports with my son, hiking with my family, and traveling
11. Bachelor's in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University,
becoming a manager at the Las Vegas Convention Center, becoming general manager
at Cici’s Pizza and taking part in opening the first two store in the city, being hired by
ccsd to be an SPTA
12. Hearing an eight-year-old autistic child speak for the first time.
13. Thinking that it would be impossible for a non-verbal child to eventually have a voice
and then it happens.

Personal Philosophy of Special Education


I. The Profession
A. Currently fifth year SPTA in an intermediate autism class at CCSD
B. Want to become special education teacher
C. Taking this course will further my knowledge of special education, useful for
work and obtaining a teaching license
II. Educational Philosophy
A. I believe the special education system in the country can be improved on all
levels
B. I have seen what can be possible when things work as they were planned to
C. Five-year SPTA
D. I feel I understand our special education system well from my experience
E. I don’t have as much knowledge of the history of Special education as I would

A. Instructional Strategies

1. Rotating and rewarding children within centers

3. Differentiate my lessons in order to serve each student at their level

A. I need my teaching license in order to have my own classroom.
B. I need to complete all required courses in order to get my teaching degree.

student goals and benchmarks.
V. Philosophy
A. Students of different disabilities shouldn’t be grouped together as one
self-leant contained classroom.
B. More thorough process for parents entering their children as special needs in
order to reduce fraud.

A. How to better service special need children as I work
B. How to eventually write a lesson plan, IEP goals and benchmarks
C. Mostly, to learn about the history about special education and the changes
within it throughout history.
