ACTIVITY 1:
Relate the following quotations to the different types of business organization.
1. Two heads are better than one
This saying means a lot. It only means that when two people work together they are more likely
to solve a problem than one person doing it alone. In business, this can be related to “partnership” where
there are two individuals with common goals and interest that share together for better or for worse.
Partnerships can also show shared lifestyle values. To achieve goal successfully, it requires complex
challenges which best solved with the help of one another. In big businesses, many companies create
partnerships to collaborate, innovate or expand their view. A partnership can double the strength of an
idea, and can bind the strength of both sets of resources. When the two different entity harmoniously
collaborate with each other this may result to a complimentary match and when two separate brands
managed effectively this could add value to the other, at the same time enhancing the growth and reach of
both.

2. Too many cooks spoil the broth

This phrase means, if there are too many people involved in a task, it will not be done well.
Literally, this expression refers to each many “cooks” who are proficient and expert in making dish on his
own, with his own combination of ingredients; when many cooks start making a soup together, each
person will add something according to their taste and preference, instead of serving the best soup may
end up spoiling it, which finally taste awful. On the other hand, if too many persons involved in managing
a certain activity, somehow it may not be good which in the end can ruin it, as in a group without a leader,
every member had an idea for how the task should go that can cause unnecessary issues, frustrations, and
confusion that will consequence chaos. In business, this can be related to “corporation” where there are so
many departments and divisions in which employee(s) work for. For example, working on a project
where multiple people are giving orders, a lack of clarity can result to confusion and other disputes.
Everyone on a project or task needs to know where the boundaries of their function begins and ends. In a
certain department, where there are many members in a committee or in a group, everybody will give
their own ideas, uniquely different from each other, the effect would be chaos of ideas and couldn’t
complete the task assigned. This may happen if there’s no proper planning and execution, and nobody
might want to bear the responsibility. To prevent this to happen, the manager or leader should know how
to manage the people or member in an organization or committee, where he/she has to divide the project
into different tasks and assigned each task to one person, in this way, the work will be integrated to
complete the certain project or job.
