LABORATORY 1: DIFFUSION
Goal:
Understand how the temperature influence the diffusion
2. HYPOTHESIS (2pt): the diffusion will reach the best temperature since the
effect of the ink will be since the ink has another estimated temperature
We know that diffusion involves the movement of particles from one place to
another; therefore, the speed at which these particles move affect diffusion,
and if there is constant movement and there is good temperature and
diffusion performance in the substance used depending on the estimated
temperature.
other factors influence the speed at which the diffusion is carried out. Size
also matters since it makes diffusion easier or more difficult.
4. MATERIALS
3 glasses
A dropper
Ink (could be methylene blue)
Water
5. PROCEDURE
A. Label each glass (1, 2 and 3)
B. In the glass #1: Add hot water
C. In the glass #2: Add water at room temperature.
D. In the glass #3: Add cold water (with ice)
E. Add a drop of ink in each glass and observe (record or take a photo)
F. Record the time spent the ink diffuses.
RESULTS
Draw or take photos to the experiment you did and describe what
happened.
Record and analyze the time spend in each case to ink diffuse.
ANALYSIS
According to your results:
A. At what temperature does the ink diffuse the fastest?
at warmer temperature
B. Why?
It also influences the molecular movement because it can be measured by the
heat of an object, the hotter the substance, the faster the diffusion that takes
place in that substance
C. What other factors determine the rate of diffusion?
the movement of particles from a different place
CONCLUSION (1 paragraph) Explain if your hypothesis is true or false.
Describe how you observed the diffusion in this experiment:
false since the water temperature has not changed since we only observed the
speed and rapidity of the diffusion, not the temperature.
It is also false since the hypothesis was about the temperature change just for a
little ink
(since I thought at the beginning that the temperature would change)
