• Keep the economy on track during battles. During battles, you
need to continue training workers, find and assign idle workers,
build new military structures, run raids behind enemy lines, and
so on—you can’t just watch the battle and stay competitive!
• Stay calm under attack. If your forward base is overrun, fall back
and build another one. Never ring the town bell, as it is extremely
disruptive to the economy; instead, move workers to a new site.
Workers are often decent fighters and can kill a few slow-moving
military units without assistance.
• Optimize military movement. Units in formation move at
the speed of the slowest unit; avoid getting your faster units
bogged down.
• Choose your battles. Focus your fire and kill weak or dying
enemies first; if the enemy is focused on a particular unit, get
the unit out of there!
• Disguise the strength and nature of your military. Stay hidden
from—or mislead—enemy scouts. Attack early with one type of
unit and then switch to a different array of units. Keep your
opponent guessing and spending resources on unnecessary
improvements.
• Heal soldiers instead of replacing them. All military units (except
Poseidon’s) can be healed, saving resources required to train a
whole new unit. Keep in mind that idle units heal faster than
when fighting.
