 GRATITUDE IS WHAT GOD WANTS
FIRST LESSON: LUKE 17:15-16
"And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned
back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on
his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a
Samaritan."

SECOND LESSON: COLOSSIANS 3:16

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, and
hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts
to the Lord."

GOLDEN TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:17-18

"Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is
the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

GOD NEEDS GRATITUDE

Many people misconstrue this salient point of gratitude to God.
They say God wants nothing from man, but this is not true. God
wants us to be grateful to him for all that he has done for us.

When we receive anything from God and do not appreciate it, he

takes it from us. A miscarriage which occurs to a woman, and
people suppose it is caused by witchcraft. It is God's anger on an
ungrateful woman. Children die, husband desert wives: and you
are molested by people because you are ungrateful to God.

You lose your job or are refused promotion because you are not
grateful to God for his goodness. Things attributed to witchcraft
are results of God's anger on an ungrateful person. Ingratitude to

God brings confusion into the world; this chaos brings want, death
and war. The leper who was grateful and returned to give thanks
to our Lord Jesus Christ was the only one who was completely
cured. The other nine had their leprosy back because they were
ungrateful and their condition became worse than before.

Abraham did not have the real Isaac until he agreed to sacrifice
him to God. It was after that mark of gratitude that he had the real
Isaac. The gift, which is a shadow, is transferred into the real
substance after you show gratitude to God. We show our
gratitude to God by paying our tithes, free will offerings and
charity and also by singing songs and giving testimonies of what
God has done for us. We should thank him for the health, ability
and life we receive from him every second of our lives.

You ought to gather in great number in the church both morning

and evening to praise God. When you give back what he has
given to you with gratitude, he gives you more in return. This is
why Christ said it is impossible for the rich whose heart is in
riches to enter into the Kingdom of God. Blessing your marriage is
a sign of gratitude to God. Infant blessing is giving thanks to God.
You ought to give thanks to God after your baptism; after you
have been made a Prophet or Prophetess or even an evangelist
or given a promotion. If you don't give thanks to God for these
things you are then among the nine remaining lepers who never
went back to show gratitude.

ALWAYS HAVE THE WORD OF CHRIST IN YOU
We glorify God by singing songs. God saves us from death so
that we may glorify him. Your voice is given to you to glorify him
but his house is always empty. When he cured you of your illness
did you thank him? Anyone who is not grateful has not the
blessing of God. We should thank him for everything he has done
to us and not to demand more things from him. You show
gratitude to a juju priest and to a man who has done practically
nothing for you but refuse to be grateful to God, saying God
needs nothing from us but the heart.

GIVE THANKS TO GOD ALWAYS

Give thanks to God when someones dies for you don't know
whether it is an exchange for you own life. When someones is ill,
thank God so that the person may be cured. Thank God for
thieves who stole your things and ask God to bless them. Thank
God when your husband is taken away from you and when you
are falsely accused. Praise God in time of want or in time of
plenty and in time of peace or war.

Re-examine the Golden Text.

GOLDEN TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:17-18

"Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is
the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

GIVE THANKS TO GOD IN ALL THINGS

Brethren, you are asked to stand any test and to thank God for
everything he gives you day by day. You can do this by going to
his house to sing praises and by glorifying him always; by
feasting, dancing to his glory and by being generous. By your
good works, your faith will be revealed.

The anniversaries we have in Brotherhood of the Cross and Star
in August and December commemorate the day Brotherhood was
established at 26 Mbukpa street Calabar and the birth of the
Christ respectively. School anniversary is another sign of
gratitude to God for his blessings. Remember Esau was asked to
prepare a meal (venison) by Isaac so as to receive his blessings.
(Genesis 25:28/Genesis 27:1-5) He was not to receive it freely.
Through Rebecca, Jacob received the blessings.(Genesis 27:6-
54).
Let us brethren have a grateful heart for this is what pleases God
most.

Those who have ears, let them hear. May the Lord bless his Holy
words. Amen.
