3.0 SURFACE PREPARATION
3.1 Presurface preparation:
Sucface preperation fr ening application should be carrying out after all structural
mechanical, piping and welding works have een completed onthe suctre or equipment.
All fised flax shall te removed from welded areas and appurtenances. When electrodes
‘sng a basie Max have been use, the welded area shall be cleaned of aaline residues by
rinsing with warm wae pine oblast leaning.
Before any cleaning cperation commences, all rough edges shall be reduced, surfice silvers
and laps shall be ground out (ll comers and edges are to be rounded to @ 2mm minimum
Pang) and weld spt a wel eahiing excessive sf eghness shal be smaed
‘0 ensuce proper paintadhesion and uniform thikness
‘Before basting, ll weldments shal be closely inspected fo the presence of welding ux and
sate, silvers, inclushns, lamination, and underlying mil sal,
Working parts of machinery and valves, instruments, glas fees of gauges, Hight fitings,
willeay out inspecin or equivalent certied inspectors
“The Sub-Contractor sal give a Coating schedule (Coating Inspection Request client
‘minimum of 24 hoursnoied in advance of surveillance,
Application vendoc cualied repesenative shall be present during execution of TSAC
‘pplication & inspection
Operator shall be quate by application of TSA on a separate sample measuring approx.
£450 x 450 x 6m thickness. Ihe actual waak less han 6 rm thik then the sample shal
‘bemade fom materia of respective thickness,
52, Surface preparation
‘Compressed ar quality test by blter test hall be done prior starting abrasive bast.
The blast claanad sure sal be inspected Yo ensure tha he areas are clean, dat Sve, ey
and comply with standard requirements.
Surface prot salle checked with surface comparator accordingly 19 ISO 8503.2. Also
the angular profile depth messurement shall be done by Press "O" film tape end minimum,
75 um depth profile sal be achieved

532. Dry Fil Thikness (DET) Value of TSA coating:
For fat surfaces a measurement ine shal be used. The average value of five readings taken
inline at 25-em (1.0) intervals shall be determined The line measurement measures the
peaks and valleys ofthe TSAC. One measurement ine for every 1m of applied TSAC.
For complex geometies and geomety transitions @ measurement spot shall bo used, Five
measurement shall be taken in an area of approximately 10 em (1.6 in"). The spot
measurement may no measure the peaks and valleys a he TSA coating
“Measurement Schedule: One ine o spot measuremcat shall be iaken every 10015 m* of
plied TSA coating.
Mustrate 1: Line and spot measurement
‘5.4 Temperature and Relative Humidity
Temperature ad relative humidity shall be messured with Hygrometer (eg Eleometer type
113 and 116 respetivly) Readings shal be taken atthe beginning ofeach shift and every
‘vo hours theeafor curing brave blast leaning and painting.
