This Special Instruction outlines the procedure to enlarge the cutout in the plate inside the track roller frame
assembly to provide clearance to the plate in the hydraulic track adjustment group. This Special Instruction
is for machines with SystemOne Undercarriage.

and gases can be dangerous to your health. Ultraviolet rays from the
weld arc can injure eyes and burn skin. Electric shock can kill.
Read and understand the manufacturer's instruction and your

employer's safety practices. Keep your head out of the fumes. Use
ventilation, exhaust at the arc, or both, to keep fumes and gases from
your breathing zone and the general area. Wear correct eye, ear and
body protection. Do not touch live electric parts.

Do not operate or work on this equipment unless you have read and
understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and

Personal injury can result from flame cutting or welding on painted

areas.
The effect of gasses from burned paint is a hazard to the person doing
the cutting or welding.
Do not flame cut or weld on painted areas.
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during

performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool

Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on
Cat products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
NOTICE
Before carrying out arc welding on the machine or on any equipment

attached to the machine, disconnect all power and ground leads from
the batteries in order to avoid possible damage to electronic
components.
Rework Procedure

(1) Area of interference
1. Refer to Illustration 1 where the plate needs to be reworked to provide more clearance to the plate in
the hydraulic track adjustment group.
(A) Dimension is 207.5 mm (8.17 inch)
(B) Dimension is 200.0 mm (7.87 inch)
(C) Dimension is 50.0 mm (1.97 inch)
(D) Dimension is 115.0 mm (4.53 inch)
(E) Dimension is 137.0 mm (5.39 inch)
(F) Radius is 57.5 mm (2.26 inch)
(G) Dimension is 306.0 mm (12.05 inch)
2. Mark bulkhead plate per drawing as shown in Illustration 2.
3. Remove material as per profile (2) as shown in Illustration 3.
Note: Only remove material from outboard side of machine on same side as fill valve in the
hydraulic track adjustment group.
4. Cut on inside of line leaving enough material to remove during grinding as shown in Illustration 5.
5. Grind smooth to obtain final dimensions as shown in Illustration 6.
Note: This step is critical to reduce stress concentration.

6. The above procedure is for right-hand side frame assembly.
7. Repeat Step 2 to Step 5 for left-hand side frame assembly.
