The Sheperd’s Daughter:

1) This tale actually contains a story within a story. What is the first story, or frame, for the second
story? What is the second story, or tale, that the character in the first story tells.

Answer: The first story’s about a writter who isn’t capable to do some craft, he can’t do something
useful out of clay, wood, metal or cloth. So his grandmother encouraged him to learn solid things,
things that can be used.

The second story’s about the Prince of the Persians who fell in love with the sheperd’s daughter and
wanted to marry her, so he sent a messanger to tell her his feelings but he wanted that the prince
learned to do some labour.

The king’s son learned to make some wave straw rugs, but one day in the streets of Baghdad some
thieves and murderes took him. They killed fat mens and feeding them to the skinniers. As a method
to escape, the Prince told them that he could make weave straw rugs and they can sold them for
hundreds of gold pieces of money to the King of the Persians. So he made 3 weave straw rugs with a
secret written lenguage, the King and the sheperd’s daughter notice them and sent soldiers to
rescue their son and husband. The soldiers killed the thieves and murderers and the prince returned
to his home with his daughter and wife.

2) In paragraph 1, you learn the central conflict of the frame story. What is it?

Answer: The central conflict of the frame story is that the grandson can’t made some honorable
craft.

3) Paragraph 4 introduces the story the grandmother tells to teach her grandson a lesson. What
problem is introduced in this paragraph?

Answer: This paragraph introduced a problem where the King’s son fell in love with the sheperd’s
daughter and wanted to married her, but his father, the King of the Persians, didn’t aprove the
relationship.

4) In paragraph 5 you learn the conflict, or what thwarts the prince from archieving what he wants.
What is it?

Answer: The conflict is that the sheperd’s daughter wanted that the Prince learned some labour so
she can become his wife.

5) In paragraph 7, the conflict seems to be resolved. However, what complications arise in paragraph
9?

Answer: The complications that arise in paragraph 9 is that the prince is being held by a bunch of
thieves and murderers who wanted to kill fat mans and feeding them to the leanest prisioners.
6) How is the prince’s situation finally straightened out or resolved.

Answer: The prince’s situation resolveded when he made 3 weave straw rugs with a secret lenguage
asking for help in it. The rugs were sold to the King and he noticed that they were a work of his son,
so he told to the sheperd’s daughter and she looked the rugs and comunicted the secret message to
the King. He sent soldiers who killed the thieves and murderers, so the captives were free.

7) What has the prince learned in paragraph 10?

Answer: The prince learned that every man should know how to make some honorable labours.

8) The first story is brought to his conclusion in paragraph 12. What does the grandmother expect
the grandson to learn from her story? How is what he actually learned ironic, or the opposite, of
what she expected.

Answer: The grandmother expect the grandson to learn from her story to make some honorable
work and her grandson learned the lesson.

The future health problems are:

• New diseases, global threats and allergies will apear.


• Diseases have come resistant to our drugs and vaccines may not work as good as they

• Obesity is going to cause all sorts of health problems

Answer: I think the most serious problem is the creation of new diseases. We can avoid obesity by
eating more fruits and vegetable, eating less junk food and doing more exercise.

cage last night, but IT was open this morning and the snake isn´t there!’As you can imagine, IT was
very frightening to think that this big snake was free and probably somewhere in the house. I left IT
very quickly, and didn´t returnet to IT until he’ d found.
