Today started a little rough, this is because after attending the 9 am orientation Dr.
Graham had not returned my email. This was okay though because the week early we discussed
the type of work we would be doing. So, I got started brainstorming, Dr. Graham wanted us to
come up with a list of potential ideas that we could be working on. I choose to focus my attention
on body image, advocacy, and support for victims of sexual assault. So, I looked up different
programs that we could do in the fall. Around 12:40 I received my welcome email from Dr.
Graham, in her email she discussed how she would like for us to have a Zoom meeting tomorrow
at 1. This meeting would be an orientation where she would introduce us to the site we would be
using and some of the work we would be doing. Also, include in her email were articles she
wants us to read about the purpose of women center on college campuses. Also, our learning
contracts were included. I sat down and took notes on the content within the articles. They spoke
about the importance that women centers play and how that is a safe space for many students in
Today official started my first day of real work. We had our internship orientation (1 pm-
2 pm), where we discuss what we would be doing throughout our time with the women’s center.
We discussed our goal for the week and the time in which Dr. Graham would like them to be
completed. This week's task is to complete our "get to know you" presentation, goal/learning
contracts, and to would on updating the board on Trello. Tello is the site that they have been
using to track their activities and is also the place where we got to brainstorm ideas. During our
orientation, Dr. Graham explained how to work Trello and when each bord was meant for. I also
got to meet the other intern working at the women’s center. We also discussed which task from
the Trello board should be completed as soon as possible, Dr. Graham wanted the resource list
and the website cards taken care of. I stared first with the resource list, Dr. Graham wanted us to
find the websites for each of the facilities and companies and their goal or mission statement.
This would help her determine if the organization is worth looking at and to have a direct link to
the organization site. Next, I started my all about me I went in and formatted my slides and
I start my work today by completing the "all about me", took the Myers bridge
personality test Dr. Graham wanted us to take. My result showed that I’m INFP-T which is the
mediator personality. Dr. Graham wanted us to complete this questionnaire so she could see how
our personality would affect our work, and how best approach each of us a task. I finished the all
about me and uploaded it to Trello (11 am-1 pm). I also played around with Trello, I wanted to
make sure I was comfortable using the website. After that I finished going over the article Dr.
Graham sent us on Monday, I was able to take note and pull out important points from each
article in order to be prepared for our discussion next week(1 pm-2 pm). After taking a break I
got started again at 6 o’clock, at this point I started to read through the women’s center website.
Dr. Graham asked that we read thought the website with a fresh set of eyes and see if there were
things that need to be changed, reduced, or add. I took my time and read through each page to
make sure the information was easy to understand and was applying to look at. I took notes on
I started my day by completing the resource list that I had been working on. It wasn’t too
difficult, but it was time-consuming. I wanted to make sure that I had the right information and
make sure it was completely up to date. After I finished the list, I joined our zoom meeting,
where I got to meet the rest of the team. This includes the wonderful women over the amazing
project like the LGBTQ+ programs, project BRAVE, and women’s leadership program. In the
meeting, we were able to talk about what made us want to start working with the women’s center
and make connections on who to call if we want to get started on a program. We were also able
to talk about the website and the changes need to be made, the conversation focused on gender-
neutral bathrooms and how we can change the map that showed the bathrooms. We also
discussed how we could link different resources to the website. Lastly, I started working on the
learning contract. I thought it would have been an easy task, but it’s causing so much frustration!
I already have my goal written out but completing the learning objects is difficult because with
COVID-19 and the internship being remote coming up with programs and activities is difficult.
This learning contract is going to be the death of me! I have found a couple of examples,
but I still have to change them to fit my situation. Also, I’ve contacted one of the other interns to
see how it was going for them. They said they also found the task to be difficult, and this brought
me comfort because I wasn’t the only one. Finally, I started to think about the programs I would
have wanted to be a part of, and it brought me back to a conversation I had with Dr. Graham a
couple of weeks ago. I love books and when I could relate to them it was impactful. For
example, the book “Fangirl” by Rainbow Rowell helped me through my freshman year. This
book's narrator is an introverted freshmen girl who is terrified of stepping out of her comfort
zone. Which got me to think about different activities we could do, like a book club for the
different marginalized communities. Creating a place where people could come and freely share
their experience and meet others who share the same views. After that writing, the learning
objective became a lot easier, and once I was finished, I emailed them to Dr. Graham. Later I
went over the article she gave to us at the beginning of the week. I wanted to make sure I was
