Guide for Assignment 4

Individual Task

Assignment: Workshop on writing literary analysis ( using Marxism) on


the “Ang Probinsiyano” video clips and Moses Moses

Date due: 22 July 2020 (11:55 pm, Philippine Standard Time)

Grade Equivalent: 30% of the Midterm Grade

Student Learning Outcomes (SLO):

Students/Groups can:
• Understand and analyze literature so as to grasp its hidden and deeper
meaning,
• Analyze and evaluate literary pieces in accordance with recognized standards
and principles,

Task:

Come up with a lengthy critical analysis using Marxism on the “Ang Probinsiyano”
video clip about Analyn and the story “Moses Moses”

Definition of Terms:

Literary Criticism gives standard direction by which to shape the students


perspectives about a work of literature through discussion of the major
approaches/theories to literary criticism.

Procedures and Guidelines:

NOTE: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.

1. This assignment will be accomplished individually.

2. The reflective essay should be at least 1500 words but must not exceed 2000
words.

3. In writing your literary analysis using Marxism, use the guide questions provided
in the Marxism PPT. No need to answer all the guide questions. Choose only those
that are applicable for the provided video clip.

4. You must use Marxism terms in your analysis

5. You are not required to pass a summary of the stories but make sure to sparingly
support your claims and analysis with events from the story.
6. To support your ideas, you may refer to scholarly references and articles. Be
cautious in choosing your references. Verify whether these articles are written by
credible authors and published in reputable journals. (Minimum of two (3) citations)

7. Use the following entry to identify your submission:

8. Provide a short title for your essay. Put the title (in boldface) at the top of the page,
just above your first paragraph.

9. A sample essay will be provided as a resource material

10. The literary analysis will be evaluated using the rubrics for writing assignments
(Page 2 of the syllabus). A more detailed analytic rubric will be provided for later
workshops.

11. Avoid all forms of plagiarism. Use proper in-text referencing and include a list of
references used using the APA 6th Edition Format. Kindly refer to the following link:

12. Formatting:
a. Font Style: Arial
b. Font Size: 12 pts
c. Page Size: 8.5” by 11” (Letter Size Format/Short)
d. Page Margin: 1” (All Margins)
e. Line Spacing: 1.5

13. The assignment should be an MS Word Document and must be submitted with
the following File Name:

YourSurname_YourFirstName_Assigment1
Example: Perlas_Sherwin_Assignment4

14. Upload your assignment in the Submission Bin. I will create a submission Bin
entitled Assignment 4 Submission Bin.

15. Submit Assignment 4 on or before the submission deadline. For every delay
beyond the deadline, 5 points will be deducted from your rating.
