While Listening: Being ready to hear.

Concentrate on looking at the question paper while listening, important.
- Answer in same order as the questions on the questions paper.
- Cannot listen again.
You will not hear the exact same words as the question words.
- Be ready to hear different expressions which tell you the answer.

While Listening: Listening while reading.

- Keep reading ahead of the audio recording.


- Don’t panic if you miss an answer.

After Listening: Checking Answers.

- You should check that you followed the instructions, used good grammar and spell correctly.
- Please follow the instruction. (e.g NO MORE than THREE WORDS AND/OR A NUMBER)
- Using incorrect grammar in your answer can result in a lower score. Be sure that you don’t write unnecessary
words on the answer sheet.
- Check your spelling, is the most common type of mistake.
- Write something even if you are not confident. If you miss an answer.

After Listening: Transferring answers.

- You will be given 10 minutes to transfer, copying the answers.


- Be sure you don’t make a mistake copying the answers.

UNIT 3 – conversation – section 1


This unit, you will learn:
- The requirements of section 1 of the IELTS listening test.
- How to complete three question types: multiple choice, form completion and matching.
In section 1 you will hear a converation between two people usually about everyday life and social needs. Speakers give
and receive information, listen for specific information to complete questions and be ready to answer the 10 questions of
the section.
