Diversity:
 Social justice issue: Disadvantages that indigenous students face due to the
intersection of their identity.
 The aim of the board game is to raise awareness about the social justice issue
to have students critically think about the social justice issue in order for them
to become global citizens and agents of the game.
 Board game
Four players, two sets of cards (questions based on everything we’ve done in
the unit, and directly linked cards from the text)
If you land on a question card it will be multiple choice, if you get the answer
correctly you will win a gold coin, which represents cultural capital. If you
land on the awareness card, you will win a silver coin, which allows players to
critically think and discuss.
 Game steps:
1. Roll the dice (all start at equality steps section)
2. Move the figure to the result of the dice
3. If you land on a question card it will be multiple choice, if you get the
answer correctly you will win a gold coin, which represents cultural
capital. If you land on the awareness card, you will win a silver coin,
which allows players to critically think and discuss.
4. The first person to reach equity wins and receives 10 bonus points.

Racism is destructive; it disempowers people by devaluing their identity. It is a social


construct and has its roots in the belief that some people are better than or superior to
others because they belong to a certain race.

schools?
