■ Passive-causative form
This is the causative passive form. (It is a combination of the causative form させる and the passive form られる .)
It indicates that someone is being forced to do something (lit. to be forced to do something by someone or
something). させられる and あせられる conjugate like a group 1 verb.
The particle に is used to indicate the agent noun (someone or something) that forces us to do something.

Group 1 verb
Stem form + させられる
かんが
食べる → 食べさせられる 考 える → 考えさせられる

Group 5 verb
The ending “u” is replaced with “-a せられる ”　or “-a される ”
書く → 書かせられる　(kaku —› kakaserareru)　　　　飲む → 飲まされる (nomu —› nomasareru)
うた
* If the verb ends with う , such as 買う , 言う , 歌う etc., the ending う is replaced by わせられる or わされる .
買う → 買わせられる　(kau —› kawaserareru)　　　　言う → 言わされる (iu —› iwasareru)

❶ 子供の時、母に毎日 勉 強 させられました。
　 When I was a child, my mother forced me to study every day. (lit. I was forced to study everyday by my mother.)
やさい す
❷ 野菜を食べさせられるのが好きではありません。
　 I don’t like being forced to eat vegetables.
ちち はは ふろ そうじ
❸ 父は母に毎週 日曜日お風呂の掃除をさせられています。
　 My mother forces my father to clean the bathroom every Sunday.
　 (lit. My father is forced to clean the bathroom every Sunday by my mother.)
かのじょ
❹ ケンくんは彼女に高いネックレスを買わされました。
　 Ken’s girlfriend pushed him into buying her an expensive necklace.　
　 (lit. Ken was forced to buy an expensive necklace by his girlfriend.
かれ かんが
❺ 彼が言ったことには考えさせられる。
　 What he said makes me think.

■ ～にする、～くする
This expression is used with adjectives to indicate an intentional change to a thing or situation.
It can be translated as “to make Something Adjective” in English.

い -Adjective (without final い ) + く + する

な -Adjective + に + する

❶ エアコンは部屋を暖かくする。
　 The air conditioner heats the room. (The air conditioner makes the room warm.)
りょうり あと きれい
❷ 料 理した後はキッチンを綺麗にしてください。
　 Please clean the kitchen after cooking.

❸ インターネットは私たちの生活を便利にしました。
　 Internet has made our lives more comfortable.
