Turn the power on by turning the VOLUME control clockwise.
Check the meter indication for battery condition, (See battery section).
. Connect antenna system to SBX-11 per drawirgs in antenna section, Note antenna type.
With a Fixed Tuned type of antenna the CHANNEL and antenna frequency must correspond.
To Receive, adjust the VOLUMF and CLARIFIER controls for best reception.
To Transmit, press microphone u..on and talk for POWER OUT indication on the meter.
. Tf the antenna is of the Tuneable Type: (a) Select the desired channel, (o) Throw ‘he SSB-
TUNE switch to TUNE, (c) Witn the power turned on, press the microphone button while
quickly tuning the antenna for maxim...) POWER OUT indication on the meter, (d) Throw

B. Always turn the power off aftetuse by tutning the WQLUME CONTROL to OFF.
¢. If operating trouble is encountered, see following page.SBX-11 TROUBLE
If ofter following the operating instructions on the previous page the SBX-11 fails to work
properly proceed as follows:
Re-read and repeat each step of the operating instructions carefully making certain thot
each control is in the correct position for operation,
If there is no indication of battery voltage with the power turned on, and you know the
batteries are new or in a good charged condition (a) Check battery polarity and connections
(b) Check that the battery plug is fully engaged (c) Check the fuse and replace with spare
if necessary.
If battery voltage is low with good batteries temperature may be too low for type of battery
in use, Nickel-Cadmium batteries should be used below freezing.
If items 1 and 2 check o.k,, check the antenna system for loose connections or broken wires.
Note: Be sure the antenna is of the correct frequency.

C. = do not operate in this region while charging.
=BE SURE THEY ARE IN GOOD CONDITION.
CHARGING- under charging conditions the
dotted lines on the scale represent:
a, approx. full charge for nickel-cadmium,
b. approx, full charge for rechargeable
alkaline batteries.
NOTES: 1) New or fully charged batteries
may start operation in the C section of the
meter, this condition may be ignored as they
will quickly discharge to the B cr green
working section of the dial.
