Remember the simple past talks about something that happened before. It happened and it finished.
Some words are regular and just have ed added at the end like walked, helped, and played a example:

My mother went grocery shopping yesterday.

We played basketball after school last Thursday.

I ate a lot when I was a child.

The past progressive talks about something that was happening before, but for a period of time. It uses
was or were + verb-ing like was eating or were playing. It gives a background for something that was
happening while a different event happened.

example:

i was studying when my friend called me.

We were playing soccer when it started to rain.

They were singing in the auditorium when the alarm rang.

While I was eating, the telephone rang.

So, during the time I was eating (let's say from 6:30-7:00 p.m.) somebody called my house (let's say they
called at 6:49p.m.) One thing happened (simple past) during the period of time another thing was
happening (past progressive.)

doctor , i am worry about her . i tell my sister to be precautions while i was taking classes at the driving
lesson but when my sister calls me she’s telling me that mom was at emergenci and they put a inyeccion
in her leg and if she’s not fine about 8:56 she will need to do a treatment that cost 5,000 and them the
doctor tells me that she have her bone worn out and she need to do the treatment as soon as possible ,
while he was talking my dad give me money and he paid for my moms treatment.

Ronald Wayne is a retired American electronics industry businessman. He co founded Apple Computer
Company (now Apple ) as a partnership with Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs, providing administrative
oversight and documentation for the new venture. Twelve days later, he sold his 10% share of the new
company back to Jobs and Wozniak .
