INTRODUCTION

First of all, in the present activity, I demonstrate that the intercultural competence refers to
the ability to meet and engage successfully with people of another social group. Therefore,
in this activity, the reader will see a mind map related to intercultural competence,
intercultural understanding, intercultural communicative competence, and ethnocultural
empathy. On the other hand, I did a research process about three countries such as; Jamaica,
North Korea, and Bolivia, where the activity shows tales, riddles, fables, myths & legends,
and poetry.
Step 1: Read carefully contents of unit 2 and create a mind map stating the main ideas about the following concepts: Intercultural
Competence, Intercultural Communicative Competence, Intercultural understanding and Ethnocultural empathy and share it on the
forum.

REFLECTION

In this activity, I was able to learn that if I want to be a good English teacher, I must take
into account the Intercultural competence, which is the ability to communicative effectively
and appropriately with students who are linguistically and culturally different from
ourselves. It’s an important skill for teachers who want to more deeply support and affirm
the diverse students in their classes, in other words, teacher must bear in mind students
learning styles, what they are learning, and activities related with the inclusion part.
CONCLUSIONS

In this activity, I had the opportunity to learn about many things related to language and
culture. First of all, I learned that intercultural competence is a skill that helps not only
teacher but also students to have a better communication in the classroom, where
inclusiveness is a component involved in the learning and teaching process. On the other
hand, I learned curious facts about threes completely different countries, such as Jamaica,
North Korea, and Bolivia.
