Concept Map 2: Writing Speaks to Situations Through

Recognizable Forms

Audience: Yourself and the ENG 304 community

Purpose: You will generate new knowledge by visually representing the connections between the
Ohio State Standards and the concept "Writing Speaks to Situations through Recognizable Forms." This
will help me check your understanding.

Where do you see connections between the concept that "Writing Speaks to Situations through
Recognizable Forms" and the Ohio State Standards? And are there any links to the concept that
"Writing is a Social and Rhetorical Activity”? Draw the links you see in a visual representation of your
choice. You can complete this concept map and submit online or create a hard-copy map and
submit a scan or photo of it.

Must Include: TCs 2.0, 2.2, 2.3, 2.6

Optional: You may include the metaconcept, T.C. 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, or 1.5

Outcomes: Use your own choice of outcomes from the CCSS. You can use state or national
standards, and you can use grade specific or Anchor standards. It may be useful to limit the number
of standards you discuss.

ProTip: Use the numerical labels for standards and concepts but put them into your own words. This
will help you practice making these grade-level appropriate and also help better illustrate what you
understand/don't understand. You are free to add extra information (questions, descriptions,
assignments) to your map as well.
