OFFERING TO DO SOMETHING

When We know someone in trouble. We usually


offer to help him/her. To offer help, we can say
the following expressions
# May I help you?
# Can I help you?
# Are you looking for something?
# Would you like any help?
# Do you need some help?
# What can I do for you?
# Can I give you a hand?
# Do you need any help?
# May I offer assistance?
# Need any help?
# Let me help you with…..
# Let me….for you.
RESPONDS
You can respond to an offer of help byaccepting
or refusing it. The following are examples of
accepting an offer of help:
• Thanks/Thank you/Thanks a lot.
• Yes, please.
• That would be great.
• With pleasure.
To refuse an offer, you may say:
• No, thanks
• I’d like to, but….
• That would be great, but….
EXAMPLES
1. Aan: Excuse me Ma’am. Could I help you copy
the document?
Teacher: That would be great, thanks
2. Teacher: Excuse me, can you help me?
Anisa: Of course, Sir. What can I do for you ?
Teacher: The projector is off. Could you check the
electricity circuit?
Anisa: Of course, Sir.
3. Endang: Let me help you with your books.
Adhit: Thank you Endang.
