Results and Discussions:

A questionnaire on existing water supply system of Mujahid Club, a densely populated

area of Pabna City, has been carried out during 1-31 December, 2018. The data on water
source, water demand, water quality etc. have been collected from the residences and
plotted based on their personal opinions.

The percentage of source of water is shown in Fig. 1. 58.5% of the total residence use
groundwater. 24% of the total residence has public water supply connection. They use
filtered or boiled water for drinking and use directly supplied water for other purposes.
17.5% of the total residence use both groundwater and supplied water. The rate of using
groundwater is higher than supplied water for odor, turbidity and other problems. No
residence uses either surface water or rain water. Surface water is easily polluted.
Perhaps that is why people don’t use surface water. There is no storage reservoir for
collecting rain water in this area.
