Removal

1. 1. NOTICE: Make sure that no strain is placed on the refrigerant lines.

2. Loosen: 2 turn(s)

3. Remove the following items:

1. Refer to: Generator (414-02 Generator and Regulator - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT
(77kW/105PS) - Sigma, Removal and Installation).

5. NOTICE: Use a wooden block to protect the oil pan when supporting the engine.
Use the General Equipments: Trolley Jack, Wooden Block

6. NOTE: Note the position of the component before removal.

7. NOTE: Note the different lengths of the bolts.

8. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

9. NOTICE: Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.

Turn the crankshaft until the markings on the VVT units are at the 11 o'clock position.

11. Install Special Service Tool: 303-748.

12. NOTICE: Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.

Rotate the crankshaft slowly until the crankshaft stops.

13. Remove the following items:

1. Refer to: Starter Motor (303-06 Starting System - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT
(77kW/105PS) - Sigma, Removal and Installation).

14. Install Special Service Tools: 303-393A, 303-393-02.

20. Install Special Service Tool: 303-1097.

21. WARNING: Take extra care when handling the compressed spring.
Install Special Service Tool: 303-1054.

Installation

Remove Special Service Tool: 303-1054.

3. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

4. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

5. Torque: 9 Nm

6. NOTICE: Make sure that a new bolt is installed.

Torque:
Stage 1:100 Nm
Stage 2:90°
Stage 3:Wait 20 s
Stage 4:15°

7. Remove Special Service Tools: 303-393A, 303-393-02.

8. Remove Special Service Tool: 303-748.

9. NOTICE: Use a wooden block to protect the oil pan when supporting the engine.

12. Remove Special Service Tool: 303-1097.

13. NOTICE: Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.

Rotate the crankshaft 1 and 3/4 revolutions and continue until piston No. 1 is approximately
45° before top dead center (BTDC).

14. Install Special Service Tool: 303-748.

15. NOTICE: Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.

Rotate the crankshaft slowly until the crankshaft stops.

16. NOTE: The special tool can only be installed if the valve timing is correct.
If the special tool cannot be installed, repeat the adjustment.

Install Special Service Tool: 303-1097.

17. Remove Special Service Tool: 303-1097.

18. NOTE: Install all the bolts finger tight before final tightening.
NOTE: Note the different lengths of the bolts.
Torque: 55 Nm

Torque: 10 Nm

20. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

21. Torque: 8 Nm

22. NOTE: Make sure that the component is installed to the position noted before
removal.
1. Torque: 80 Nm

2. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

23. Remove the General Equipments: Trolley Jack, Wooden Block

24. Torque: 48 Nm

25. Remove Special Service Tool: 303-748.

26. Torque: 20 Nm

27. Install the following items:

1. Refer to: Starter Motor (303-06 Starting System - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT
(77kW/105PS) - Sigma, Removal and Installation).

2. Refer to: Generator (414-02 Generator and Regulator - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT
(77kW/105PS) - Sigma, Removal and Installation).

28. Torque: 24 Nm

29. Torque: 10 Nm
