Salomone Marino, states. in his 1897 edition of Customs and Habits of the Sicilian Peasants”, that the fasol may have been named for a 17th century musi- cian of Palermo, a monk called Giovan Battista Fasola. It moves from the minor to relative major and ends in the parallel major key.
