The National History Museum of Romania has the pleasure of inviting you to the conference
”Approaches to archaeological landscapes. Tools, methodology and case studies”, which will be
held the 22nd-23rd October 2014 in Bucharest, Romania. This event is organized in collaboration
with the National Heritage Institute (Romania) and UMR 7041 ArScAn (Archéologie et Sciences de
l’Antiquité) – Équipe Archéologies Environnementales (France).
The conference is organised as a final event for the Romanian project “Archaeological Landscapes.
Outlook, history and evolution”, funded by the Romanian Ministry of Culture and is placed also
under the auspices of the European Project "ArchaeoLandscapes Europe" (ArcLand). The purpose
of the project is to promote the concept of archaeological landscape and its research methods within
the Romanian scientifically field.
Day 1 - will be dedicated to theoretical approaches regarding the concept of landscape (definitions,
history, evolution, etc.) and methods of interpretation (G.I.S., remote sensing, L.I.D.A.R., aerial
photography, geostatistics, spatial analysis, archeogeography, etc.). We expect speakers from
countries with a long tradition in the analysis of landscape archaeology;
Participants are invited to hold a presentation in one or both of the mentioned sections.
Presentations should be held in English and must not exceed 20 minutes + plus 5 minutes
discussion after each contribution
The abstracts will be published in the conference brochure and on the
project’s website in a trilingual form (English / French / Romanian).
