Volleyball was invented by William G.

Morgan in 1895, but it did not become an Olympic sport until


1964.

The longest volleyball marathon on record was played in Amstelveen, Netherlands, from December 27
to December 30, 2011. The event lasted 85 hours, with 63 matches played in total.

The record for most consecutive passes in volleyball is 110, achieved in the United States, in Raleigh,
North Carolina, on February 5, 2010.

Just recently, Polytechnic University of the Philippines held its annual University intramurals. One of
most anticipated sports is Volleyball. Different colleges and branches practiced and prepared for the said
event.

College of Arts and letters is among the competing colleges. Last September 20, they had their first
match against PUP Sta. Maria branch at Teresa court. It was a heated clash between the two teams.

The first game was snatched by SMB with a score of 25- 20. Meanwhile, at the beginning of the second
game, CAL was leading a very good scoring. SMB then, took the favor of the ball with a tie of 15-15.
Eventually, the game ended with SMB grabbing the win with a score of 25-21.
