Acme Lift-Weigh’ Digital Bedside Scale
MODEL 5001 ~ "LIFT-WEIGH" DIGITAL BEDSIDE SCALE
CAPACITY: 400 Ib. X .1 Ib. / 200 kg x 100.9
ZERO THE SCALE:
1. Activate the display unit by pressing the "ON" button. Display will show all functions for
approximately 3 seconds, then "0.0 Ib" or "0.0kg"
2. Attach the sling to the hooks. Sling must hang free without touching anything. The
sling weight will be displayed (approximately 8.4 Ibs). Press the ZERO button to clear
the scale.
3. Remove the sling from the hooks. Scale will now compensate for the sling weight, and
the display will show approximately -8.4 Ibs. DO NOT push Zero button when sling is
removed or above procedure will need to be repeated.
4. When weighing several patients in sequence, it is not nessary to zero the scale each
time. The scale will "remember" the sling weight.
PREPARING THE PATIENT:
1. Ina manner similar to changing a bedsheet, position the sling under the patient so the
patient will be reasonably centered in the sling.
RULE: The patient's center of gravity must always lie between the two hoops.
2. CLOSE VALVE. Pump the handle to raise the hoops high enough to clear the patient
3. Maneuver the scale to bedside and align the hooks over the holes in the sling rails.
4. SLOWLY open valve to lower hooks into sling. Close valve. Engage hooks in sling.STABILIZE THE SCALE:
1. Push shifter handle (at bottom of mast) to the right and downward 45°. Spread scale
legs by pulling handle towards you and to the left in a complete half-circle. Lock legs in
position by raising handle up to vertical.
2. SLOWLY pump jack handle until sling begins to "embrace" patient. STOP!! DO NOT
raise patient completely off bed yet. Verify engagment of all four hooks.
WEIGH THE PATIENT:
1. Slowly pump handle until patient clears bed by 1 inch, but no more than 3 inches.
CAUTION: NEVER move patient from over-bed position.
2. Read and record patient's weight.
3. Return patient to bed by reversing above procedure.
CAUTION
NEVER WITHDRAW SCALE FROM THE OVER-MATTRESS POSITION
UNTIL PATIENT IS OFF THE SLING.
IMPORTANT: Plug in charging cord when scale is not in use.
WARNING:
THIS SCALE IS DESIGNED TO WEIGH PATIENTS IN A HORIZONTAL POSITION ONLY.
NEVER ALLOW ANYONE TO STAND, KNEEL OR SIT IN SLING.
DO NOT USE THIS SCALE AS A PATIENT TRANSPORT DEVICE.INTRODUCTION

‘Acmé Medical Scale Digital Models Operate On 6 "AA" Rechargeable batteries.
For optimum battery life, follow these instructions:
To recharge the batteries:
Position the scale near a standard 120V AC, 60HZ wail outlet.
Plug the cord into the outlet.
Recharge the batteries WHENEVER THE SCALE IS NOT IN USE.
If the batteries are becoming weak, you will see the word "bat" in the upper left corner of the
display. Weight readings taken while "bat" is displayed are valid. This is an indication that
the batteries should be recharged as soon as it is convenient.
If the batteries become too depleted, the display will show the message “LObat". If the
batteries are depleted further, there may be no display at all when the ON key is pressed. To
obtain a full charge from the "LObat” or no-display stage, recharge the batteries overnight.
The scale WILL NOT operate while the batteries are charging. If the ON key is pressed while
the batteries are recharging, this message will appear on the display.

tur with your thumb to make sure it is seated.
Rejoin back and front halves of indicator; tighten captive screws.
Verify proper installation of batteries by seeing that indicator is operative.
For safety reasons, the Acmé’ Medical Scale indicator is self-contained, with no internal
parts exposedWARRANTY
The warranty does not apply if the indicator has been damaged by accident or misuse,
improper packaging during return shipment or as a result of service or modification without
prior authorization.
