For optimum battery life, follow these instructions: To recharge the batteries: Position the scale near a standard 120V AC, 60HZ wail outlet. Plug the cord into the outlet. Recharge the batteries WHENEVER THE SCALE IS NOT IN USE. If the batteries are becoming weak, you will see the word "bat" in the upper left corner of the display. Weight readings taken while "bat" is displayed are valid. This is an indication that the batteries should be recharged as soon as it is convenient. If the batteries become too depleted, the display will show the message “LObat". If the batteries are depleted further, there may be no display at all when the ON key is pressed. To obtain a full charge from the "LObat” or no-display stage, recharge the batteries overnight. The scale WILL NOT operate while the batteries are charging. If the ON key is pressed while the batteries are recharging, this message will appear on the display. As each battery is installed, give it a quarter tur with your thumb to make sure it is seated. Rejoin back and front halves of indicator; tighten captive screws. Verify proper installation of batteries by seeing that indicator is operative.
