Lesson Plan March 18- march 22

1st grade
Monday RL
Objective: Students will identify 7 pronouns,3 verbs,4 nouns and learn
a story’s text.
Structure: “Read the lines from the story”. “Circle the pronouns”.
Target vocabulary: bury, hide, jar, outline, past, treasure, wait.
Teaching resources: Compass RL, projector, speakers, Flashcards
worksheet.
Learning procedures:
1. Use the flashcards to elicit or teach the key words.
2. As you teach each word, write it on the board.
3. Read the words aloud and have students repeat each word
chorally.
4. Have students complete activities 1 and 2 in the worksheet. Have
them share their outlines with a classmate.

Tuesday RL
Objective: Students will review 3 verbs and 4 nouns an reread the
story.
Structure: What information do you think this text will have?
Target vocabulary: Bury, hide, jar, outline, past, treasure, wait
Teaching resources: Compass reading log, audio track 5, projector,
speakers, compass platform.
Learning procedure:
1. Use flashcards to review the key words.
2. Show the pictures to elicit the words.
3. Read the words aloud for students to repeat together.
4. Form small groups.
5. Tell students to take turns finding pictures for the words in the
story.
6. Have students read and ask : What do you think a time capsule is?
7. Invite volunteers to share ideas with the class
8. Play track 5.
9. Have students answer to the best of their ability. Monitor and
help as needed.

Wednesday
Objective: students will learn to read and spell 12 irregulary spelled
words.
Structure: Find and circle the irregulary selled words.
Target vocabulary: are, how, is, one, the, two, what, where, who,
you, your
Teaching resources: compass phonics and spelling log, platform,
projector, speakers, audio track, construction paper word cards.
Learning procedure:
1. Say words for students to repeat them in chorus.
2. Hold up the key words for students to say the words.
3. Cover the words with a book or a sheet of paper.
4. Uncover them slowly, exposing the beginning of the word first.
5. Encourage students to say the words as soon as they know what
they are.
6. Form pairs and small groups. Point out the words in the box.
7. Tell students to find the words in the word search.
8. Write THE horizontally on the board. Write it vertically and
diagonally as well.
9. Explain how each word is written.
10.Have students work together to find and circle the words.
11. Play audio track and have students repeat words and trace
them as well.

Thursday
Objective: Students will learn 8 countries and nationalities using
pronouns and possessive adjectives.
Structure: What country is this? Where is she from?
Target vocabulary: are, her, he’s, his, she’s they’re
Teaching resources: Compass platform, Compass vocabulary and
grammar, projector, speakers.
Learning procedure:
1. Unscramble the countries and nationalities.
2. Read and complete the correct words.
3. Look and circle the correct options.
4. Replace the underlined words with pronouns.
Friday
Objective: Students will identify themselves and write at least 5 words
and adjectives describing themselves.
Structure: what’s her name? What’s she like? Where is she from?
Target vocabulary: happy, tall, friendly, short, quiet, loud etc.
Teaching resources: Flashcards, compass platform, projector, speakers.
Learning procedure:
1. Point to the picture of the girl, and have students look at the
poster.
2. Ask questions about the girl.
3. Have students look at the different adjectives.
4. Have students find a country and flag.
5. Have them count the candles on the cake.
6. Then have them look at the pictures of her activities.
7. Complete the speech bubble as a class.
8. Invite volunteers to describe themselves with a noun or an
adjective.
9. Have students create a personal list of words.
10. Have students list their name, where they are from, their
age, and adjectives that describe them and the activities that they
are good at.

2nd grade V&G


Tuesday
Objective: Students will learn 3 prepositions of movement and 3 sports
verbs.
Structure: “Jump over the hurdle” “Go through the hoop”
Target vocabulary: Jump, throw, run, around, through, over.
Teaching resources: Compass vocabulary and grammar, speakers,
projector,
Learning procedure:
1. Look and write the sports verbs.
2. Use present simple to talk about routines and activities.
3. Use a preposition to describe how things move.
4. Complete the text with the present simple form of the verbs.
5. Look read and choose the correct options.

Thursday
Objective: students will learn 8 new prepositions of movement and 4
new sports verbs.
Structure: “She walk across the field and past the trees”
Target vocabulary: Across, between, down, into, out of, past, under,
up, climb, crawl, slip, slide
Teaching resources: Compass vocabulary and grammar, speakers
projector
Teaching procedure:
1.Look read and complete the sentences with the correct
preposition.
2.Look and write the sports verbs.
3. read look and mark the pictures.

3rd grade
Monday
Objective: students will learn 8 nouns, 1 adverb, and 1 adjective and
the story’s text.
Structure: “We are going to hear a story about a boy who has a
problem”
Target vocabulary: Assignment, diagram, directions, enthusiastic, life
cycle, magically, metamorphosis, process, stage, tricks
Teaching resources: compass reading log, worksheet, flashcards,
projector, speakers.
Learning procedure:
1. Elicit the title of the story.
2. Tell students what fiction means.
3. Explain what realistic fiction means.
4. Use the flashcards or teach the key words.
5. Write key words on the board and define each word.
6. Work on crossword puzzle together as a class after story has been
read.

Tuesday
Objective: Students will learn about predicting and character
motivations by rereading the story.
Structure: What will happen in the story? What happened? Do you
like doing homework?
Target vocabulary: Assignment, diagram, directions, enthusiastic, life
cycle, magically, metamorphosis, process, stage, tricks.
Teaching resources: Compass reading log, audio track 2, projector,
speakers,
Teaching procedure:
1. Elicit the name of the story.
2. Remind students the main character in the story has a problem:
he does not want to do his homework. Encourage students to
guess what happens to the main character.
3. Have students look at the picture in the story.
4. Ask who the main character is and how he/she feels.
5. Students will try and talk about the events in the story.
6. Play track 2.
7. Read the story and help students answer questions to the best of
their ability.

Wednesday
Objective: Students will learn 4 consonant blends and 6 consonant
diagraphs.
Structure: what do you see? What consonant sounds do you hear? Is
bl a consonant blend or diagraph? How do you know?
Target Vocabulary: Blue, gloves, milk, salt, change, dish, research,
shape, three, with
Teaching resources: Compass phonics and spelling log, Audio track
2-4, Projector, speakers.
Learning procedures:
1. Explain that in this topic students will learn to identify and sya
consonant blends and diagraphs.
2. Have students look at the chart on page 7.
3. Play audio for students for students to listen and repeat the
examples.
4. Explain what vowels and consonants are.
5. Have students circle the words that have consonant blends.
6. Draw a Venn diagram and explain diagraphs.
7. Have students listen to audio track, then read and write the
vocabulary words until they understand.

Thursday

Objective: Students will learn to identify and distinguish 5 long


vowel words and 5 short vowel words.

Structure: What do you see?

Target vocabulary: Cave, tree, child, ogre, music, hat, elf, witch,
frog, sun

Teaching resources: Compass phonics and spelling log, projector,


speakers, audio tracks 7-9

Learning procedure:
1. Have students look at the chart on page 13.
2. Play the audio for students to listen and repeat the long vowel
sounds.
3. Pause the vowels and elicit the long vowel letters.
4. Point out the rules. Continue the audio for the students to
listen to repeat the words.
5. Compare short vowels with long vowels.

Friday
Objective: Students will learn how to write and draw a butterflies
life cycle.
Structure: “First it is an egg, then it is a caterpillar, after that it
becomes a pupa, finally it becomes a butterfly”.
Traget vocabulary: First, then, next, after that, finally, egg, caterpillar,
pupa, butterfly.
Teaching resources: Compass reading log, speakers, projector,
construction paper, crayons.
Learning procedure:
1. Show students a butterfly life cycle video.
2. Have students write what comes first.
3. Write sequence adverbs on the board with vocabulary that
describes each step of the butterfly lifecycle.
4. Students start to draw each step.
5. Play board race game with students identifying each stage in the
butterfly life cycle.
6. When students finish drawing they each present the steps of a
butterfly in front of the class.

6th and 7th grade


Monday
Objective: Students will watch review and practice the definite,
indefinite, and zero articles.
Structure: Where are the people in the story? How do you know?
Target vocabulary: a, an, the
Teaching resources: Grammar worksheet 2.1, tracks 10 and 11,
speakers, projector, language log.
Lesson procedure:
1. Have students play Pictionary in groups of three.
2. One draws and the others try to guess what it is.
3. Play the audio and have students.
4. Tell students to read the comic on their own.
5. Read aloud the art of the indefinite article and explain.
6. Read the part about no article and explain. Explain that it is often
called the zero article.
7. Read aloud about the definite article and explain.
8. Complete the biography with articles.
Wednesday:
Objective: Students will examine and learn a narrator’s point of view
in a text about a famous art thief.
Structure: Why was Picasso carrying a suitcase in the middle of the
night?
Target vocabulary: big- headed, squat, elsewhere, crammed,
shattered, broke
Teaching resources: Track 12, projector, speakers, language log.
Teaching procedure:
1. Dictate the following quiz about Pablo Picasso
2. Read the title and paragraph with the class and then have
students think of the answer by themselves.
3. Elicit ideas for class discussion.
4. Write the following words on the board and ask students to find
synonyms in the text.
5. Preview the questions with the class. Then have students read the
text again and answer.
Friday
Objective: Students will listen to multiple perspectives about
reasons for making art.
Structure: Why do you think artists love their profession?
Target vocabulary: Perspective, issue, viewpoints, paraphrase,
Teaching resources: Track 13 and transcript, projector, speakers,
language log.
Lesson procedure:
1. Write questions on the board.
2. Ask students questions to take notes about their answers.
3. Have students compare their answers.
4. Tell students to read the entry on their own.
5. Go over vocabulary with students.
6. Write common proverbs on the board and ask students to
paraphrase them.
7. Play track 13 with students and answer questions in a pairs and as
a class to compare answers.
