Question:
What is
sugar’s
effect on
yeast?
Purpose: To
produce the
gas that
makes
bread rise.
Hypothesis: If I
mix the yeast
with sugar in
warm water,
the balloon will
fill with air or
gas.
Materials:
 Balloons
 Funnel
 Dry Yeast
 Sugar
 Measuring spoon
 Measuring cup
 Warm water
Results: The
yeast fed on the
sugar making
carbon dioxide
with no place to
go but up. It
slowly fills the
balloon.
