QUESTION II

MORNING DEVOTION TO MEDICAL STAFF

Theme: Keeping a Hurting Oath

Reading: psalms 15:1- End

Am Rev. Margret Muching an A.C.K. ordained clergy from Nyahururu diocese. I thank God for
this chance as we share a message today. God loves his people who keep his commands. In the
reading, the writer tries to analyze a person who can dwell in the Lords tent. Verse 4 says it is a
person who keeps an oath even when it hurts. As we understand your duties that one is to keep
secrets to where the patient is ailing and cannot disclose to anyone without the consent of either
the ailing person or every very close family member. The Lord loves those who keep their oath,
even if it pains, even if it cost a lot. The Psalmist continue to say that it is a person who does not
change the mind, a person who does not accept a bribe against the innocent and as he concludes,
writes, whoever does these things will never be shaken.

Dear brothers and sisters, continue to serve the people as we know that service to humanity is
service to god and never tire of doing good because in due time, our god shall reward you keep
all the promises god gave. Keep praying to god and will help you. Your duties are close to that of
Christ. He never discriminated. Sometimes the disciples and those around could not understand
this. Batimaus was silenced by the crowd, but could not hold. His aim was to see, nothing else.
He shouted even more and more until he drew the attention of Jesus and finally, he received his
sight. His shouts did not echo nicely but still Christ was therefore him. As you continue to serve
never allow your ears to hear disturbances of shouting and wailing patients. Let it sound nicely to
you as it was to Jesus and god will bless you and reward you.

Loving ones, I know and we know you risk your and those of your family members, treating
some contagious diseases and infectious diseases but our prayer is God protect you in all ways is
you keep secrets remember you save families.

The bible tells us of a commander named Siseva, he had only one daughter and one day before
he went to war, he promised god that on his return from victory, he shall sacrifice whoever
would meet him first, our god is faithful and so he gave them victory over their enemies and on
return, the only daughter heard shouts of joy of victory and unfortunately, she was the first to
meet the Dad. “A promise that hurts”. He has no alternative; he gave the daughter three months
to enjoy herself before sacrificing her as he had promise. The oath coasted him his only child and
daughter. Keeping oath or promise sometimes aches. You have to wake from sleep, break your
holiday, miss family outings, lose your money, risk your life and that of your family especially
like today we have the COVID-19 brought by corona virus, keep the patients need assurance that
all shall be well and so you need to have a message of hopes always. You are just like preachers,
giving hope to the dying.to let them know all is well in the Lord who knows all and the creator
of human kind .am glad when j visit some hospitals where they indicate” we treat but god heals”
you are co-workers with God .you work in partnership keep your oath even if it hurts, it pays and
shall pay in due times. A man was about to retire and the company told him to build a final
house since he was an architectural, feeling angry and tired on his thirty ninetieth year of
service, he never bothered to follow what was being done ended building a house which could
not meet the quality he used to build. On his retirement ceremony he was so upset to hear that
the house plot which had built the house was his retirement gift from the company. He could not
remind it and end up in a substandard home. This was a challenge to him and his colleagues he
could not belief it was that so and real truth. Brothers and sister, be faithful in whatever you do
till death. Amen.
