To Whom It May Concern:

As a 5th grade teacher this school year, I have had the honor of being a PIM for the
University of Memphis. Caley Petty was placed in my classroom for both her
Residency I and Residency II teacher candidate programs. Miss Petty showed great
determination from the start. She was eager to enter the classroom setting to learn,
grow, and find her place as an educator.

Miss Petty has taken her role as a teacher candidate to heart. She has planned each
lesson to the best of her ability in order to assure that all our students’ needs would
be met. After each lesson, I have provided Miss Petty with feedback to help improve
future lessons and to highlight what was working well. She has taken this feedback
and adjusted future lessons accordingly. Miss Petty planned a creative compare and
contrast reading and writing unit that imbedded our Expeditionary Learning
curriculum for her edTPA assessment.
Miss Petty has worked well with our students, faculty, administration, and parents
throughout the year. I have been able to work with Miss Petty to co-teach in a
variety of ways. Our students have shown respect to each of us equally as the
classroom teacher. Miss Petty will be a great addition to any faculty.

Sincerely,

Katie Faught
