Introduction:

Hello, My name is Carah Dalton and I am a graduate student in the Master of Public Health
Program at Liberty University.

Need:

I am here today to talk to you all about healthcare associated infections. Healthy People 2020
classifies these as infections that are obtained in a medical or healthcare setting.1 These occur
quite often and the prevention is important in the public health field.

Solution:

The Journal of Hospital Infection featured an article that showed we can prevent the spread of
these infections by practicing good hygiene, washing our hands, and using personal protective
equipment.2 We can work together to use these precautions to prevent the spread of these
infections.
