This is

your opportunity to Pay-It-Forward. We are again partnering with Bright Horizons to help
stock their donations wish list shelves. Due to Covid, we were not able to sponsor the garage
sale this summer that directly benefits their organization. Many of us are looking for ways to
be the hands and feet of God in these trying times. This is just one small way for you to do
that.

When families get ready to move out of the shelter and into housing, they often don’t have
much to take with them. I had an idea . . . and proposed this idea to the Thrivent Team to use
my action dollars. They have approved my event and I’m excited to share this idea with you.

I’m using my action dollars to purchase one of every item on the Bright Horizons donation
wish list. This will set up one family as they transition out of shelter & into housing. My idea
was for our congregation to pay forward this idea. I would encourage you to purchase an item
off the list or as many items as you can/want.

These items can be dropped off at St. John’s and I can deliver them, or you can take them
directly to Bright Horizons. Any monetary donations are greatly appreciated and will be
given directly to Bright Horizons staff to be used for food/gas cards that will also be given as
folks transition out of the shelter. This can be done on an individual level, something your
small groups could take on, or a great family project to help teach compassion, caring and the
gift of paying it forward.

Donations will be collected throughout the month of August and can be dropped off in the
church office. There will also be a donation drop box in the narthex.

· Bedding & Towels
· Kitchenware (Pots, pans, dishes, silverware)
· Personal Hygiene Supplies (Feminine Products, Razors, Body Wash, Deodorant,
Shampoo, Conditioner)
· Baby Supplies (Diapers, Wipes, Formula, Baby Bath, Baby Shampoo)
· Over the Counter Medications ( + for kids) (MUST be new and unopened)
(Ex: Vicks Vapor Rub, Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Cold Syrup, Throat/Cough Drops)
