COURSE DESCRIPTION
Earth Science is a three (3) unit course that is concerned with the entire Earth - the lithosphere, the
hydrosphere, and the atmosphere. It comprises sciences like Geology, Meteorology, Astronomy,
Oceanography, and Mathematics. This course is designed for one semester only

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Explain the birth of astronomical studies, the sun, and other celestial bodies in the space.

Understand the planet Earth from its composition, atmosphere, and other geological forces.

Explore the hydrosphere of the Earth from the ground water down to world's ocean.

Apply positive human intervention to care for the planet for its sustainability.

COURSE POLICIES

Absences and Tardiness

Attendance must be highly observed for all students who are enrolled on this course. Avoid absences as
much as possible. Each sesssion is very important on student learning. Three (3) consecutive tardiness is
equal to one (1) absent. Fifteen (15) minutes late is equal to (1) absent. The maximum number allowable
absences of student wether excuse or not is equivalent to twenty percent (20%) of the total number of
class hours in a given term as CHED recognition, MWF (10) absences, TTH seven (7) absences. A student
is marked absent when he/she is not in the classroom 15 minutes after the start of class time. Students
who arrived late should sit at the back to avoid class disruptions. 1.3 in the absence of any prior
announcement from the department, the class must wait for the teacher for 30 minutes after classes
have started. No free cuts shall be deemed given unless this time has passed. Students who leave before
this time shall be marked absent.

Quizzes and Examination

If classes are suspended or cancelled on the date of a schedulled examination or quiz, it is understood
that the test will be given on the following meeting. Quizzes will be given after the end of every topic
duscussed. Special quizzes is allowed if and only if the student will present a written valid reason for not
taking the quiz. Cheating is not allowed. Any student who will be caught will be given a failure mark
automatically. Appeals for rechecking must therefirebbe accompanied within ONE WEEK AFTER THE
RESULTS ARE GIVEN OUT.

The Bottom Line

I am here to teach every student to learn and understant the material presented in this course.
Clarifications, Questions, and suggestions will be freely accepted during class sessions only. The
computation of the grades isa based on a modified transmutation table, where every student has to get
75% of the total number of items in order to get a passing grade of 75%.

Respect due dates

No projects, assignements, and other papers needed in this course will be pass after the deadline. A 10%
deduction will be done for late submission of documents. In case of any valid reasons of not passing
after the said deadline, documents will be accepted with a written letter.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Attendance per school policy.

Active participation in class discussions and activities.

On-time submission of projects and assignments.
