Gamilde states that reading is for gratification.

It is a basic skill and development

methods for the students (Fairburn & Winch, 1998). The purpose of reading is to learn

something. It is also one of the most important skills that an individual must possess.

Reading gives man gratification in some life aspects. For others, it is a way to escape

from reality. Similarly, some also found it an inexpensive way to travel as they learn

others’ cultures and norms. People who are melancholic, found reading as a means to

enliven their troubled hearts.

Wixson, et al., states that reading is a process of constructing meaning through

the dynamic interaction among: (1) the reader’s existing knowledge; (2) the information

suggested by the text being read; and (3) the context of the reading situation (Wixson

et.al., date). The reader must be able to translate the written words in the book he is

reading into meaningful language. The meaning of a written word will always rest on

how the reader interprets it. The reader will come to like a written text depending on

how the author presents the text. In some cases, the reader likes a certain write-up if he

happens to relate with it. This is an implication that there must be connection between

the reader and the author.
