The objective of this particular exercise was to get acquainted

with designing spaces with peculiar surrounding features. And I

gained the following from the exercise,
1. Could mitigate adverse climatic features by transforming
them to favourable conditions using natural designing
techniques.
2. Learned how to respond to the different contour levels on
the site by exploring the concept of ‘plinth and steps’.
3. Could understand to prioritise the space according to the
requirements.
4. What actually is meant by a ‘shelter’ in a different scenario
could be perceived.

In this category of exercise, handling of different materials such

as wood and metals was experienced much. Various methods of
joinery without using any adhesive were adequately explored.
Afterwards visited different centres to get a precise knowledge
of a variety of hardware. Then I could be aware of the
importance and inevitability of precision work while joining,
cutting, drilling and grinding of different materials.

I understood the name and features of different parts of the Oil

Can. The functioning mechanism of each element was made
fully clear through this exercise after exploding the device into
parts. Apart from these, each part after the process of the
explosion was drafted with its precise dimension

In this exercise, the very heading gives the clue that our job is to
recapitulate the requirements of a client or the need arising from
a situation and thus have to be depicted in our work. Analysing
the impression and features like geometry, material and colour
etc, of the door I imagined and put into a diagram from many
possibilities of the interior, a wooden cushion stool. Side by side
with this, I could point out the name of an architect and perusing
his personality and personal likings I designed an interior space
and a poster for him.
This exercise took intended to analyse the relation of viewing a
composition or space in different perspectives such as one-point,
two-point, etc. This allowed familiarising some technical terms
such as the horizon, vanishing point, the picture plane, etc.

This was a primary step towards the drafting and understanding

of the plans, elevations, sections, axonometry, isometry. This is
a precision work within the line weights of the object and
construction lines.

The aim of this exercise was to represent a particular data about

an area through graphics. I have incorporated educational
institutes, religious places, recreational space and commercial
centres to bring out the cultural image and heritages of
Thalassery, an ancient city of Kerala, with vast historical
importance.

Varanasi is a famous temple city of India. There are many

monumental structures which attract tourist from all over the
world. Here in most of the constructions are equipped with
Jharokhas which is very unique when compared to similar
structures in other parts of India. Jharokhas are the structure that
can connect the exterior world from the interior space. Usually,
the womenfolk of that area can have a very good outer view
from the interior. As part of my job, I did a case study on
Jharokhas found in the ghats of Varanasi. The pictures show the
salient features with the inherent beauty of it. A poster showing
its structural speciality and dimensions is created using various
software
