MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING A COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSIHP BETWEEN EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY (ECU), UNITED STATES AND. UNIVERSIDAD CONTINENTAL (UC), LIMA, PERU The establishment of a Collaborative Relationship between East Carolina University (ECU), Greenville, North Carolina, USA, and the Universidad Continental (UC), Lima, Peru reflects consensus between these institutions to pursue the establishment of a formal collaborative relationship. 1 ECU and UC agree to co-operate in discussions to identify areas where staff and scudents of both institutions can work together through the programs of ECU's Global Academic Initiatives to promote international excellence in higher education. ECU and UC, based on principles of equality, have reached an agreement to establish this partnership by participating in the Global Understanding project using videoconferencing and other internet-based tools. English will be che language used in this project. Participation will require each university to maintain internet connectivity that supports H.323 videoconferencing and IRC- based chat. ECU and UC seek to foster fature collaborative educational opportunities including conferences, intemational exchange lectures, and international exchange courses, exchanges of students, and faculty, and research projects. Any of these activities will be the subject of a fucure agreement. ECU and UC will share information with the other to help promote mutual understanding, and each will respect the confidentiality and intellectual ownership of this information as may be required or permitted by law. ‘Amendment to this agreement will be in writing and executed by those responsible for its implementation. By written mutual consent, this agreement shall go into effect from the date of the last signature. If i is deemed necessary by cither party, new ideas can be put forth in writing according to the situation to enhance or extend the agreement, subject to the written approval by both parties.
