Freeform Poetry I

Elizabeth Perkins
For Professor Michaels
Good effort to try and seduce me
With hushed words of love
The glow of the candles accentuate the mood of romance
And my shoes made of glass turn into shards
If your invitation is to go on a love rollercoaster
Then I will consider taking you up on that offer
But it would be a one night thing my sweet Cinderella

Shall we dance?
I recommend you practice your sweet talk
Shall we hug?
The steel of your shoes echoes as you step clumsily
Shall we dance?

Your embrace is cold and rehearsed

Telling me you love me
The light surrounding the moon is a bizarre color
But I don’t hate it
Fire burns in my eyes
I will take you to paradise
Though it will be a one night thing my sweet Cinderella
Shall we dance?
Show me the rhythm you’ve learned
Shall we hug?
Open the door to my mind
Shall we dance?

My sighs in the cold air decorate the sky

You’re like an angel with an extra pair of wings
Climbing your way to heaven
And I want you to enjoy it
Though it will be a one night thing my sweet Cinderella

Did you know?

The spark of my heart burns red
Can you hear?
The beat of my own chest going errant
Did you know?
