MANUFACTURING PROCESS (PCC- ME- 302)

The main goal of this subject is to train the students about the fundamentals of secondary
Manufacturing Processes like turning, shaping, planning, drilling, milling and grinding. It will
emphasize upon the prominent theories, concepts and constructional features of machines
related to them and provide an insight about the super finishing operations of lapping and
honing.

Course objectives:

1. The course provides students with fundamental knowledge and principles in material
removal processes (secondary manufacturing process).
2. In this course, the students apply the fundamentals and principles of metal cutting to
practical applications through multiple labs using lathes, milling machines, grinding
machines, and drill presses, Computer Numerical Control etc.
3. To demonstrate the fundamentals of machining processes, machine tools & metal cutting
parameters.
4. To develop fundamental knowledge on tool materials, cutting fluids and tool wear
mechanisms.

Course outcomes:

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

CO-1 Classify the various manufacturing processes used in industry for converting raw materials into finished products.:Know the
principles and science of various basic manufacturing processes.CO-2:Acquire fundamental knowledge and design widely used and
very important primary manufacturing processes such as casting, joining and forming.CO-3:Acquire knowledge about the various tools,
equipment, machinery and operations required for these basic manufacturing processes.CO-4Understand the application, advantages
and limitations of various manufacturing processes.CO-5:Introduce to recent emerging areas in primary manufacturing process
