In the current era, learning a new language is a necessity since the world is currently in the midst of

globalization. This had led to some research on the better age to start learning a new language. In
my opinion, it is better for kids to learn a foreign language at primary school rather than starting
later in secondary school.

There have been numerous research that pointed out that the golden age of learning languages is
during a young age. At that point, the brain of a child is still capable of learning new vocabulary
quickly since their brain is suitable for that task. This ability is not affected even though the child is
currently learning several languages. That is why a lot of immigrant children are capable of
speaking their mother tongue and their new language.

In addition to that, younger children are less self-conscious. This means they are not afraid when
they make mistakes, which is an important thing when you try to learn any new skills. In turn, this
trait that a child have will make them better at speaking the new language and pick up better
pronunciation since they have been through so much trial and error.

This does not mean that teenagers or even the elderly are not capable of studying a new language.
Some countries starts foreign language lessons during middle or even high school. However, it
might be tough for older pupils for learning new languages since they have adapted their mother
tongue for a long time. This could double the amount of effort that they have to learn a new
language and their pronunciation will most unlikely be as close as how the natives would sound.
In conclusion, it is better to start learning a new language at a younger age since the process of
learning will be much quicker, but it is also not a huge problem if somebody wants to learn another
language when older.
