From dust, to dust-
In the Lord we trust.

A breath of life opened our eyes

The garden, so beautiful, fills our sight

So peaceful, so wanted

Yet the Lord freely granted

Temptation came in the form of a serpent

Adam and Eve partook, and realization came like a torrent

Now banished, blocked by flaming swords

Our first wept and thought of the words of our Lord

“Do not eat from that tree”

The only rule, yet we are free

The garden and all things within

All for us, yet we still sinned

Generations pass

The children of Adam clash

Weapons of destruction

Within arms of each nation

But perhaps we should see

What we were, before we were we

From the ground as dust

Breathed to life, by the Lord we mistrust

Look to now and today

Our weapons many, and arrayed

Unleashing storms of fire

Explosions caused by our ire

Yet when the fires stop and the smoke dissipates

What is left really does reciprocate

Things we achieved, monuments we built

Us and all of it- see where it goes and be in guilt

To us our creations are so grand

Yet to all things it is only etched in sand

From dust, to dust

In the Lord we should’ve trust
