Ans. No, Heinz should not have stolen the drug

As per Kohlberg’s theory


• Through view of obedience or self-interest
He has committed a crime and should end up in jail. This could ruin his entire life and
could be pivotal in deciding in life course.

• Through view of conventional level


He violates social norms and law. He may fall out of society and can be branded as
criminals for life. This decision will not only affect him but his entire family. Social
acceptance is very important as human beings are social animals and he cannot ignore the
same

• Through view of social contract orientation or universal human ethics


*The right of ethical compensation of the scientist has been violated through this act
of stealing. Although this act was done out of love for his wife this violated the
scientists natural right
*Also, someone else may have already paid for the medicine, and it will be unfair on
that person and would reflect poorly on the scientist
