 They require relatively low maintenance because small wind turbines only have 2-3

moving parts.
 The design seems simple.
 Wind is free.
 No fossil fuels are use to generate electricity.
 Newer technologies make energy production much more efficient.
 Wind turbine take up less space than the average power station (a few square feet for
the base). The turbine can be spaced in remote location, such as offshore, mountains
and desserts.
 When combined with external energy sources, wind can provide a reliable supply of
electricity.
 VAWTs offer a number of advantages over traditional horizontal axis wind turbines
(HAWTs). They can pack closer together in wind farms, allowing more in a given space.
This is not because they are smaller, but rather due to slowing effect on the air that
HAWTs have, forcing designers to separate them by ten times than their width.
 VAWTs are rugged, quite, Omni-directional, and they do not create as much stress on
support structure. They do not require as much wind to generate power , thus allowing
them to be closer to the ground. By being closer to the ground they are easily maintain
and can be install on the chimneys and similar tall structure.
 Research at Cal Technology has also shown that carefully designing wind farms using
VAWTs can result in a power output ten times as greater than HAWTs wind farm of
same size.
 The results demonstrate the effectiveness of hybrid turbines in low wind speed. In fact ,
in locations such as Ohio with low wind speeds , the hybrid turbines could produce
much more power than other commercial turbines.
