Document Development Exposition: White Paper

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
Choosing to do hurricanes because they’re topica. I also chose to focus on how climate change is
making them worse because it is something I care a lot about. I decided to focus on the solutions of
educating people as well as reducing carbon footprint and making it easier for evacuations. I chose
hurricane Harvey to highlight in this paper because of the incredible impact it had.

First Draft (for peer editing)

I did get too far with my first draft as I was still searching for reliable sources to use. That was the
hardest part of this stage. Checking credibility and accuracy of sources is a very time-consuming
process and I feel as though I got better and faster at it due to the time constraints I had.

Second Draft (for your packet)

The hardest part was trying to come up with solutions which haven’t already been talked into the
ground, as well as finding scientific backing for those solutions. To overcome this I spent an entire
day reading through scientific journals to find good and useful sources

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

Overall the project was a massive undertaking and took many hours for me to complete. The biggest
challenges overall was the sources as just stating facts without proper backing would mean nothing.
