Reflection

Chris Healey
Communications 1010

Reflect on how you thought about communication before you took this course and how
you think about it now that the course is over. Have any of your assumptions or
understandings changed? Why? What assignments/activities/readings were influential in
this process? How will you approach communication differently in the future?

Honestly when I first took this class I thought the whole class was going to be supper
simple and kind of a waste of time, Because how difficult can communications really be?
Man I was very wrong, I really figured out a lot of my own strengths and weaknesses that
I need to work on to become a better communicator. Communications is not just the
literal things you say to one another but the nonverbal and visual that helps us speak to
each other. I gained a much-needed respect for this class because it was more intricate
and difficult than I ever thought it would be. I will use the things I have learned in this
class every day for the rest of my life. I loved doing the journal entry’s because I can look
back and see exactly how I was thing then as compared to now and that is kind of fun to
see that kind of progress in yourself and see how it influenced me personally. As stated
before I have a whole new respect for communication and how it will be used to benefit
my life. I have already used some of the tactics and communication styles to help make
relationships better at my work and home life. I plan to continue the use of these things
throughout my life.
