Harifin Andi Tumpa

Harifin Andi Tumpa (born in Soppeng, South Sulawesi, February 23, 1942; age 78 years) is the
Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2009 to February 8,
2012. He was elected as Chief Justice replacing Bagir Manan on January 15, 2009 with 36 out of
43 votes .

His legal education was obtained from the Judge and Djaksa School in Makassar in 1959-1963,
studying at the Law School of Hasanuddin University, Makassar graduating in 1972,
postgraduate at Leiden University in 1987, and a Masters in Law at Krisnadwipayana University,
Jakarta in 1998-2000 . Later, he worked as a judge in various District Courts and High Courts in
various regions.

Harifin Andi Tumpa is married to Herawati and has two children, Andi Hartati Harifin and Andi
Julia Cakrawala
