E ep iy agit MEASURE-BAR Written music is divided into a number of equal divisions called measures or bars. Straight lines drawn at right angles to the staff (Bar lines) mark the beginning and end of each measure. ACCIDENTALS Sharps (#) Flats (b) Double Sharps (3%) Double Flats (bp) or Natural (H}) signe may be placed before individual notes. Each Accidental is valid for only the measure it is in. A sharp raises a note one half step. A flat lowers a note one half step.
