Reflection

In my criminal justice course, I can say that all the units were of interest in equal measure.

However, I liked the final research paper. The final research paper provided me with valuable

information concerning criminal justice. I developed critical thinking skills, gain written

communication skills, and practice credible information using a wide range of online

searches. Criminal justice is a fascinating topic. It sharpens the mind of a student to

understand how the criminal justice system, the minds of the criminals, and the measures

which are useful in dealing with various criminal justice issues. Some of these issues, which I

find very captivating in my criminal justice course, include hate speech, bias, aggravated

assault, rape, murder, vandalism, and destruction of places of worship, among others.

Generally, developing a research paper in criminal justice helped me developed an objective

analysis in the application of the various methods required in designing and presenting an

informed paper. In essence, in developing my research paper in criminal justice, I was able to

understand how the criminal justice system operates through the collection of credible and

objective information from online sources. The vast resources are essential in determining all

the factors necessary for understanding the factors that influence the criminal justice system.

My final research topic was on improving police-community relations through community

policing. This topic enabled me to understand how community policing plays a significant

role in law enforcement, as well as the improvement of community perceptions to law

enforcement efforts. I was able to understand the challenges and problems that community-

policing experiences and the interventions put in place to address these challenges so that

society appreciates the work of law enforcers in promoting public safety. The participation of

the community in law enforcement gave me a more in-depth insight into how the partnership

is vital in general security.
