The first writing claims that unmanaged tourism is not sustainable let alone beneficial for

small communities.Presenting a plethora of arguments, the first essayist places great

importance on the outcome and the detrimental effects unsustainable tourism brings.
Notwithstanding, the second text sheds light on the criticism that tourism endures such as
being an ¨rapacious predator¨ of smaller cities.

Pondering on the downside of tourism, the first text states some consequences that leave us
baffled and taken aback. Therefore, I am convinced that not only does unsustainable tourism
affect small towns but also its dwellers by for example, destroying its wildlife and disrupting
communities when holiday season approaches. On a lighter note, the second essayist
provides insight into the criticism tourism endures. Although there are countless travel
agencies which promote sustainability, kudos to them, the majority of holiday makers
present many territories as places whose alluring ambience is only transient.

Tourists are sometimes kept in the dark about unsustainable tourism hence why t is
essential to read the first text to understand what happens in those cities that leave us
spellbound and not turn a blind eye to the quandaries that they suffer. Local cultures can
suffer as the needs of tourist are given priority. For example, handcraft shops could be
demolished to make way for retail development. In addition, the negative effects on the
environment such as, poisoning the sea with sewage or denuding wildlife are well
documented.

Never had it occurred to me that tourism could put communities in jeopardy and how their
inhabitants face the peril of losing their territory.Although I am no globetrotter, and I certainly
do not regard myself as someone who lives out of a suitcase, it seems to me that those
small, quaint cities affected negatively by tourism have embroiled themselves in this
predicament by resorting to it as a means of income.
